Turkey blocks Twitter

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan banned Twitter from the country on Thursday. Citing a recent and controversial law, the Prime Minister issued a court order and promised to "eradicate" the social network. This is the latest move in a recent crackdown on freedom of press and expression in the country. via The Washington Post

Google Wearables

On Tuesday, Google introduced Android Wear. The new project is the company's first foray into the wearable space. Now, developers can start building applications for Android devices like smartwatches and fitness trackers. via ReadWrite

Tango, Tango

Tango

Tango, a messaging app and social network, has raised $280 million. Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba contributed $215 million and holds a minority stake in the company. The free messaging app, that's similar to apps like WhatApp and Viber, allows users to send video messages, texts, pictures, games and music. The app is now valued at $1 billion. via Business Insider

Starbucks App

Starbucks

After a preview last week, the newest Starbucks mobile app debuted in the App Store. The app features a new digital tipping option and a feature that allows users to simply shake their phone to bring up the barcode a barista needs to process a mobile payment. via TechCrunch

Healthbook

Apple has found its next market in need of reinvention: the mobile heath and fitness industry. The company's healthcare and fitness app will be displayed in its iOS application codenamed Healthbook. Here's a great rundown of the new app including screenshots, icons, and interfaces. via 9 to 5 Mac
