Robin Wauters from TechCrunch reported today that Apple put in a trademark for the number 280 a week ago, which is the route number that’s displayed on the iPhone’s maps icon. So, Apple will now own the rights to the whole number between 279 and 281. They own the score for 40 touchdowns (with all extra points made). They have the number of millions it took to make Cars 2, Super 8 and Larry Crowne combined. This is a step in the right direction for Apple and the world as a whole. Here are a few other things that Apple should just go ahead and own:

Notepad Notepads. I mean, come on, who uses notebooks anymore? Everyone just takes notes on their iPhone. That’s the tech savvy thing to do, and all the cool kids are doing it.
Old TV Old, generic looking TV sets. Scientific fact: 99% of TVs that look like this are now being stored in your grandma’s attic. It’s true, look it up. This is easy pickings for Apple.
Flowers Sunflowers, and flowers in general. Flowers are so overrated these days. Yeah, they smell good, look pretty, and bees pollenate them, but can you play NBA Jam on them? I didn’t think so.
Sun The Sun, and the number 73. If we’re busy basking in the sun, we won’t have time for whatever future gadget Apple comes up with. Plus, sunburn? NOT fun. And the number 73 should just come with it in a package deal. Prime numbers don’t even warrant a discussion, especially when I can’t even think of a single pro athlete that’s ever worn the number. It’s better for the number 73’s future if Steve Jobs just owned it. You’re next, 87.

Conclusion

Apple is doing everyone a service when they trademark things.  Think about Angelina Jolie adopting poor babies, except with companies and things. They run an amazing business, and it can’t hurt for us all to be a part of it. Let’s just give them all of the stuff that we have as a society. We’ll be better off for it.
