Our partners at Microsoft Research came to us with a powerful idea: create a digital experience that visualizes how people feel about artificial intelligence, not through data or dashboards, but through art.
The result was Mosaic, an interactive mural that uses ChatGPT and DALL·E to transform individual sentiment into generative portraits. Conceived in collaboration with Microsoft’s research team, Mosaic invited participants to answer one question—“How do you feel about AI?”—and see their response visualized as part of a living, collective canvas.
We helped translate that vision into a cinematic, immersive experience. Built with React, Next.js, and Three.js, Mosaic was designed for exploration and emotional presence, not traditional navigation. We extended Microsoft’s Fluent UI system with custom motion, layered effects, and a visual language that prioritized reflection over interface.
Behind the scenes, we integrated with ChatGPT to interpret each user’s response and identify emotional tone and intensity. That structured sentiment was paired with visual styling and passed to DALL·E, which generated a unique portrait. We tested, refined, and engineered AI prompts to ensure expressive variety, safeguard inputs, and maintain the integrity of the experience at scale.
The final project sparked researchers, designers, and technologists to think differently about AI—and how it might connect us.
