The increasing popularity of Pinterest has sparked a movement in DIY (do it yourself) projects. The most pinned things on the site are normally DIY inspired, that allow followers to try out your creative idea. People of all genders and ages easily become sucked into the never ending realm of ideas. My home has become a trial and error super experiment where I try out the things that catch my eye. Besides being intrigued by someone’s idea, it also offers a way to learn how to do things that you may have not previously known.

Because of the fact that Pinterest is such a hit, it only makes sense that DIY apps would start appearing in the market. An app that can teach you how to do something and that allows you to teach others- what could be better than that? For the person that wants to try a new arts and crafts project, a new recipe or a new way to arrange your bedroom (along with countless other ideas), these are the apps for you.

Daniel Raffel, founder and CEO of Snapguide, was one person who saw a hole in the apps market and knew just how to fill it. He knew that the iPhone had advanced technology that would be able to handle an app based off of the idea of sharing DIY experiences.

Let’s say you know how to make a really awesome cupcake; you would be able to upload step by step videos, pictures and descriptions onto this sharing app so others could see a detailed process of how you perfectly get that frosting whipped at top. This advanced version of the one dimensional Pinterest allows a whole new learning experience to take place. It’s like having a friend there helping you along the way- inch by inch, stroke by stroke or stir by stir.

If you’re not the type of person who wants to upload your own content, you can be the other half of the equation- the info seeker. You’re able to go through the app and peruse anything that strikes your fancy. Along the way you are bound to stumble across something that will get your engine going and that you will absolutely need to try.

If I were you I’d keep my eye out for many more DIY apps to come. Doing it yourself has never been so chic.
