Favicon, as you may not be familiar with the term, I can almost guarantee that you are well aware of what it is, and how it is used. A favicon is the small image associated with a website, commonly found next to the url or on browser tabs. Below are some common favicons that you will most definitely recognize.

A favicon was invented by Microsoft and originally a .iso file. Now other formats are usable on different browsers, with the exception of IE. Making a favican is fairly simple and can be made on favicon.cc by selecting different colors for each pixel or just uploading an image and converting it into a favicon. Once the image is complete it can be downloaded. Here is an example of a favicon that I created with the upload feature: colaapps favicon

A favicon is essentially the branding for your website. If the favicon images above had no text, they would still quickly be recognized and associated with the corresponding site. Although it may be the smallest image, a favicon is certainly the most important for a site.
