Dealing with stress and anxiety is not easy, and finding a therapist can be just as hard as dealing with your emotions. Hearing “Sorry, we aren’t accepting new patients,” or “Your insurance is not accepted here,” can get tiresome. Our App of the Week, Sanvello, is a free therapy app that can help you on your journey to a better state of mind.

Struggling with mental health themselves, Chris Goettel and Dale Beermann realized there was a problem regarding accessibility for all individuals seeking mental health relief. Understanding the impact that mental health has on people’s lives, they were inspired to create Pacifica (now Sanvello). Their mission was to help people wherever they were and whenever they were, through whatever methods the user saw fit. Sanvello launched June 27, 2019, as a rebrand and revamp to build upon the success and foundations of the former Pacifica app.

Sanvello is an app that provides on-demand help for handling stress, anxiety, and depression. Working with therapists, Sanvello is based on the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy by offering clinically validated solutions and support. Building upon the success of Pacifica, Sanvello provides a wider array of therapies and integrates with the health care system to remove barriers to therapy, such as stigma, cost, or logistics.

Offering a daily self-care feature, Sanvello allows the users to record their mood and health activities each day to discover patterns. The guided journeys feature uses cognitive-behavioral therapy and other techniques to help users build coping skills and feel more in control of their emotions. Users can also find strength from others through the community support feature by sharing stories and encouragement. For $8.99 a month (or 53.99/year), users can access the entire library of meditations, guided journeys, and other activities.

With 2.9 million users, Sanvello has a 4.7/5 star rating in the App Store and was listed on Apple’s “Best of 2017.” Sanvello has been featured by Forbes as one of the four technologies innovating mental health in 2016. Partnering with Texas A&M, Sanvello offered free premium subscriptions to students as an extension of the university’s counseling services.
