You're thinking about moving to New York City: bright lights, food deliveries 24/7, bars open until 4am- it's a dream. Anyone who has contemplated a move to the Big Apple has heard the horror stories about finding an apartment, but those are just exaggerations... right?

Wrong. Everyone and their mother seems to be moving to New York City. In an attempt to stay ahead of the pack, you must dedicate hours each day scouring Craigslist for that near-perfect apartment. Fast-forward to when you actually move in and you find out that that perfect apartment is, well, not so perfect. That window unit in the bedroom? It doesn't exist. The "short walk to the subway" is actually a mile-long.

You should've gotten the apartment details in writing, your father says. You should've hired a broker, your mother says. Now, your sweaty walk to the subway each morning is a daily reminder of your shoulda, woulda, couldas.

Thankfully, we've found Naked Apartments. Sign up, choose the neighborhoods you're interested in and check a few boxes about the type of apartment or studio you're looking for. Then, the website suggests apartments and allows brokers get in touch with you via email. Yes, they contact you. And if you find something you're interested in, you can schedule a tour. Using September 1 as a move-in date, we received, on average, two emails per day from brokers telling us about apartments that fit our description.

The website is clean and easy to use, which is more than we can say for Craigslist. Most listings provide plenty of pictures, including a map of where the apartment is located along with local subway information. Naked Apartments is free for renters to use while landlords and brokers pay a fee in order to help keep connect serious agents connected with serious potential clients.

Craigslist will increasingly become a way of the past as Naked Apartments proves itself to be the handiest tool in apartment hunting.
