Ever have the need to quickly record something and felt like there must be a better solution than Apple’s default voice memos app? Well, trust your intuition because there absolutely is. Just Press Record is a sleek, intuitive, multi-purpose audio recorder that is simple as just pressing record for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
The Just Press Record app has a very streamlined UI/UX, keeping what’s important immediately accessible. As you launch the app, the main view is populated by recent recordings, just above the omnipresent record button. That record button is centered big and bold on the bottom menu bar, making it is exceptionally easy to launch the app and hit record. You don’t even have to do that though because if you long-hold on the JPR app icon on the Home screen you get a contextual menu where you can instantly start a recording.
All of your recordings are broken down into the “recents” tab as well as the full-on browse tab. All files are stored directly in iCloud Drive which helps them sync between all of your devices. iCloud Drive is a game changer and something users may not even be aware of. If you record on your Mac or on your iPad, everything just works together and your files magically appear where you need them. It’s even better for Apple Watch. Just Press Record has a full-fledged Apple Watch app that allows you to record and playback recordings. This includes a complication that can start recordings directly from your watch face.
As your recordings build up Just Press Record will then transcribe all the recordings that filter in, making them searchable and copyable as text. But the features still don’t stop there. For advanced users, you can change the file type, choose which microphone to use (if you use an external mic) and change the sample rate.
When it comes down it, be it quick memos, an entire class lecture, a song you enjoyed, or a meeting, Just Press Record has you covered. It supports multitasking on iPad, background recording on Apple Watch, Siri Shortcuts, Mac with iCloud Drive, and of course its original iPhone app. The user interface is clean and dead simple to use that we couldn’t image going back to Apple’s stock option.
