Understandably, most hotel apps that are out there are concentrated on publishing the best deals and discounts on the biggest hotel chains. Frankly, that’s where the money is! That’s where most people stay and where there are surely plenty of incentives on bookings for the apps. It caters to the general price-conscious consumers. Sometimes though, you’re looking for something a bit extra. Tablet Hotels has you covered.
Tablet Hotels helps you discover stylish, hipster, and grand hotels that may not be showing up on the top of Expedia. My wife and I stayed at an amazing rock-themed hotel in Boston that we discovered with this app and it made our vacation. It was photo-worthy and full of little touches that elevated the stay. Use Tablet Hotels to find boutique lodgings and well as inclusions from the Michelin Guide.
Hotels are given what’s called a “Tablet Score,” based on multiple factors, including verified reviews. Reviews are so powerful that if reviews start to fall, a hotel will be removed from the app. You can view other guests' public profiles that show places they enjoyed which can help you decide on a hotel. It’s a unique social aspect for like-minded travelers.
Recently, Tablet Hotels was acquired by Michelin and now is the official hotel selection of the Michelin Guide. On top of that, every Michelin Star restaurant is found in the app. Bib Gourmand and Green Star designated eateries are listed too and many of them can be booked directly from Tablet without jumping to another website or app.
Of course, the app experience mimics the hotel experiences customers have come to expect. It has a dark blue interface with subdued light-grey icons. The dark backgrounds really help the hotel and food images pop, keeping your attention on what’s important. Despite having historic hotels, the UI is modern with no drop shadows or skeuomorphic effects. Images go edge-to-edge with no borders and the action buttons are easily identifiable to reserve your booking or reservation.
As I’ve been looking through apps I find it kind of funny how many of the budget apps have this bright white look and feel while Tablet Hotels is considerably darker. It just puts out a different feeling when you’re using it. It’s very on-brand and classy. I can’t wait to try this out again on my next trip.
But enough about other people's apps.
