After months (and months) of speculation, the unveiling of Apple's newest technology is almost here! This week, we've rounded up the latest Apple rumors in anticipation of the big event.

Perhaps the biggest and most exciting news about the new Apple products are reports that the company has partnered with American Express, Visa and Mastercard on a new iPhone payments system. Wallets could become an ancient relic before the New Year. via Re/code

Jonathan Ive, Apple's design chief, reportedly joked that Switzerland will be in trouble once Apple's iWatch comes out. The new technology will reportedly cost around $400. via The Verge

In awesome news, The White House announced on Thursday that it has named Megan Smith its next CTO. Smith is an ex-Google executive with decades of experience in Silicon Valley. Congrats, Megan! via The Washington Post
