Our Top Sites for Design Inspiration
Some of lead designer at Fueled, Rob Palmer's, favorite website designs this week
Every week at Fueled, our London-based lead designer Rob Palmer shares a handful of inspirational websites with our teams in New York and Chicago. This weekly email acts like a virtual water cooler, encouraging us to congregate across time zones and discuss what brands and blogs are doing to push new trends in web design.
Parlez-vous français? That's okay- you don't need to understand what's going on to appreciate the design inspiration we have for you this week.
Arcade Fire Reflektor
It's not the first attempt at an interactive video we've seen, but it is definitely the coolest. Everyone's favorite (French!) Canadian band, Arcade Fire, has produced a killer video for their song "Reflektor" off their new album of the same name. By connecting to a website via your smartphone and computer, you are able to manipulate the video directly by holding up your phone to a computer screen. It's a visually stunning adventure. A must.
Schmidt
The French kitchen furniture supplier, Schmidt, has built a great website highlighting the unique inventions of... England. We actually learned something from this super interactive quiz. The animation is adorable and wonderfully crafted. We're sure you'll have fun flying through the questions and discovering new animations.
SRG International
SRG's website is reason #437 why New Jersey isn't the armpit of America. SRG, based in in Mahwah, New Jersey, is comprised of a group of scientists who are aiming to make life "safer and more enjoyable" by creating "useful products." Delightfully vague, but their website is slick.
Alibi
Alibi, the American Whiskey makers, have a seriously cool site. Scroll down and travel through a colorful bacchanalia filled with hot girls and humans with animal heads. We love the look and feel of the site and the social media integration. Watch the clock and for a special surprise, click on it: #HTTR.
World Wildlife Fund
The French really know how to pull at the heart strings. This moving website, for the French branch of the WWF, opens with a beautiful full screen video. The rest of the site is impeccably designed and packed with stunning photography and information about environmental impacts on animals and information about WWF initiatives over the years. Worth a peek.
Wacom
Wacom's website is a refreshing change to the regular e-commerce site. The Japanese company, that produces graphics tablets and styluses, makes shopping for their products fun, interactive and, we assume, seriously effective.
Le Col de Claudine
The website for the the French clothing company is simple but very elegant. After scrolling through the beautiful looks (and girls) there isn't much else to the site... but definitely check out their videos.
